Inverclyde is a small county just to the west of Glasgow and sitting on the banks of the River Clyde. Famous in past years for its shipbuilding, trading and manufacturing, the region acts partly as a hub for commuters to the big city.
The main centre of population is Greenock, with Gourock and Port Glasgow also well populated. With direct access to Glasgow via the A8 and M8, there are plenty of job options in a wide range of sectors.
Education and the health service are important employers in Inverclyde, and tourism, especially heritage and water-based sports offer many other opportunities.
