Located in the north east of Scotland, Aberdeenshire is a sizeable county with a considerable amount of coastline. Its economy centred for many years on forestry, fishing and agriculture, and these are still important industries for work.
The largest population centres are Peterhead and Fraserburgh on the north east coast, the city of Aberdeen being separate administratively from the county. Hospitality and the tourism sectors are significant employers, as are education, with two universities offering job opportunities both for academic and a wide range of support staff, and the health service.
The North Sea oil and gas industries are major employers for scientists, engineers and support workers.
